Octagonal shaft with pedestal and base, large octagonal top has alternating inscriptions and insignia. Shields - left - right - crown, city shield (woman, shield, unicorn), Lion rampant shield, castle shield within rope. Bronze armillary sphere on top.

Signatures
Below city shield: 'BALLOCHMYLE' and 'MYRETON' Also quarry names on blocks on shaft, from top: 'REDHALL', COCKLAW, [ ], CRAGG, WHITSON NEWTON' On base: 'MOAT' And quarry signs?

Top (L-R from above crown), incised:
'TAK TENT O TIME ERE TIME BE TINT.'
