EIFF branded 'headless chicken' without director

The Edinburgh International Film Festival faces serious damage if it fails to appoint a new director quickly, senior film industry figures warned yesterday.

There is confusion and concern in Edinburgh and beyond as to why the festival is without an artistic director, who would pick film and star guests for the June festival, after a search launched four months ago.

Initial interviews were held in mid-October. There has also been no replacement named for the festival's head of development, Sadie McKinley, responsible for relations with funders and donors, sources said.
