Edinburgh Film festival goes outside

Open‑air film screenings are to be held in St Andrew Square as part of this year's Edinburgh International Film Festival.

The full programme was set to be officially launched this morning in Cannes, and organisers revealed they would be bringing back the 'al-fresco' screenings that have proved a huge hit at previous festivals.

Organisers were keeping tight-lipped about exactly what will be shown.

This year's festival will also include a selection of short films by Margaret Tait, a poet and filmmaker who, from the mid-1950s to the early 1970s, maintained a film studio in Rose Street.
