Dinnerladies make a meal of it in city

A stage version of Victoria Wood's hit BBC sitcom, Dinnerladies, will be served up at the King's Theatre.

Her co-star Andrew Dunn will be re-creating his popular TV role in the show's first major national tour. He and Sue Devaney, who plays secretary Jane, are both well-known for their roles in Coronation Street, while Ms Devaney also played Liz Harker on BBC One's Casualty.

The play is based on the second series of the TV comedy, retaining the strong characters and some of Ms Wood's funniest writing. It follows the reluctant love story of Bren and Tony, as they are egged on by work colleagues.

The show was recently voted ninth in an all-time list of favourite sitcoms. The play runs from Tuesday 2nd to Saturday 6th March.
