Kind‑hearted firefighters helped a pensioner to his feet after a fall in the city centre.

The man, who had a walking frame, took a tumble on Lothian Road shortly before 9pm on Thursday.

The crew from Lothian and Borders Fire Brigade spotted the man, jumped out the vehicle and helped him to his feet before summoning an ambulance.

He was said to be shaken by the incident, which happened outside the Superdrug store.
