posted 9 May 2011, 12:49 by David Rintoul

Scotland's first Voluntary Arts Week is to celebrate the many different voluntary arts and crafts activities that take place across Scotland.

The event, launched by Voluntary Arts Scotland, started on Saturday with a live celebration event in Festival Square.

The event featured a diverse line-up of live performances throughout the day from local voluntary arts groups, including hula-hooping, singing and dancing, as well as demonstrations from local crafts groups.

Fiona Campbell, executive officer at Voluntary Arts Scotland said: "I'm really pleased that we've been able to get the first ever Voluntary Arts Week off the ground. The response so far from around the country has been great, with activities happening from the Western Isles to the Central Belt."
