Community projects benefit from a £100,000

Three projects in the Lothian region have been awarded funding totalling £100,000.

Dalmeny Street Park play area receives £50,000 to pay for new equipment.

Edinburgh West End Bowling Club gets £10,000 to pay for the installation of replacement artificial banking and in Bonnyrigg the Pitcairn Centre gets £40,000 for roof repairs.

The money has been awarded by the Landfill Communities Fund of Waste Recycling Group and is distributed by Environmental Body WREN.

Caroline Sanderson, project manager for Edinburgh and Midlothian said: "WREN funding is focused on community-based projects such as village halls, children's play areas, skate parks, public parks and woodland improvements, but other projects can be eligible too."
