From milkman to secret agent, the celebrated career trajectory of one of Edinburgh's favourite sons is well documented.

Now those who have enjoyed Sean Connery's silver screen appearances as 007 can also have a close brush with his humble origins, with a visit to the Fountainbridge Co-op where he first plied his trade.

The former St Cuthbert's Co-operative Society building is one of the few old landmarks left in Fountainbridge, which has seen office buildings sprout up in place of the breweries and tenements which once lined the street.

Now its ground floor is set to be transformed into a cafe where James Bond fans will be more than welcome.
