Chester-based property firm CityHeart Developments has been granted planning permission for a new 778 bed student accommodation in Edinburgh, which has been pre-let to Edinburgh Napier University.

CityHeart acquired the site in June, which was part of the planned new Lloyds Banking Group HQ at Fountainbridge in the city centre.

Pochin Construction has been appointed as contractor for the scheme, which was designed by Allan Murray Architects and includes a new Public Park with a CHP system.

The scheme comprises four buildings, the highest of which is nine storeys high and includes a convenience store, community space, and a public park.

CityHeart’s managing director, Mark McNamee, said: “This will be our first venture in Scotland and we are very excited about this latest project. We plan to start on site by October and aim to hand over the building to the university by Summer 2013.”
