posted 10 Jul 2009, 04:15 by David Rintoul

Profits from a circus set to be held on the Meadows are to be donated to a children's charity.

The Moscow State Circus, which is run by the European Entertainment Corporation (EEC), will hand over 40 per cent of money raised from ticket sales to the Child's Voice Appeal.

Launched by the NSPCC last year, the charity appeal hopes to raise £50 million to expand services such as ChildLine.

Sarah Morley, NSPCC fundraising manager, said: "We would like to thank EEC for supporting the Child's Voice Appeal through donating money from ticket sales."

John Haze, director of marketing for EEC, added: "We are proud to be supporting the NSPCC's Child's Voice Appeal.

"People who buy tickets using the special code will help support the NSPCC's vital helplines while enjoying one of the fantastic shows which stretch the limit of human achievement."

The Moscow State Circus is appearing at the Meadows from 13th-31st August.
