A recent visit to Tollcross Fire Station and the Museum of Fire was arranged for nine children from an area in Belarus still affected by the infamous nuclear disaster of 1986 at Chernobyl. The group was a mix of boys and girls, all aged between nine and 14.

Each year the Edinburgh branch of UK charity Chernobyl Children's Lifeline host at least one group of such kids. At Christmas time a group of Ukrainian children of a similar age group also visited Edinburgh.
