Dozens of car owners in the Capital have fallen victim to the costly craze of car badge theft.

Police patrolling the Merchiston, Meadows and Tollcross areas have been inundated with reports of thefts in the last three months.

A total of 45 cars have been targeted between September and last month.

Police believe the thefts are the work of two trophy-hunting gangs operating in the area. Officers today revealed that they have arrested five teenagers in connection with the investigation.
