City leaders 'obsessed' with spending on giant TV

City leaders were today accused of being "obsessed" with spending money on the big screen on Festival Square.

Councillors have passed plans to submit a planning application to keep the screen until 2014 – an extra two years.

But the BBC will only run it until 2012, meaning the council could face significant running costs for two years.

Councillor Gordon Buchan, Tory culture spokesman on the city council, said officials have been unable to clarify how much it will cost.
