Campaign to save Meadows grass grows

A campaign to keep large-scale events off the Meadows is being backed by the members of four community councils across the south of Edinburgh.

Southside, Tollcross, Marchmont-Sciennes and Merchiston community councils have all given their backing to the Save Our Meadows campaign being run by Friends of the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links.

The group say that limiting events held on the park is the only way to preserve its grassy areas, which have become churned with thick mud after events in recent years.

The group is lobbying the city council not to licence any large events on the park this summer.
