Campaigners to fight on against party flat rentals

Residents plagued by stag and hen groups today vowed to carry on their campaign for action despite a rebuff from the Scottish Government.

A petition calling for regulation of party flats will be presented to MSPs tomorrow.

And city MSPs said they were ready to step up pressure to help neighbours whose lives are being made a misery by the drunken, noisy behaviour of revellers who rent flats in the Capital for pre-wedding weekends.

Hopes were raised two weeks ago when Housing Minister Alex Neil appeared to signal a readiness to consider a crackdown on the landlords who rake in up to £600 a night from the party flats.

But Mr Neil has since ruled out extending existing licensing schemes to cover holiday lets.
