Call to give office demolition plan the boot

A last‑ditch bid has been launched to save the former offices of a company that created the first rubber Wellington boot.

The derelict headquarters of the old North British Rubber Company (NBRC) is to be bulldozed as part of the new master plan by the Lloyds Banking Group for part of the former Fountain Brewery site.

The Fountainbridge site was originally going to become Bank of Scotland's biggest UK office hub only for the plans to be dropped after Lloyds merged with HBOS.
