Calls to ditch big screen that fails to draw crowds

Fresh calls were made today for the giant TV screen in the city centre to be axed after more stewards were paid to police a live screening of a Scotland rugby international than spectators watched the game.

A team of stewards costing £414 was brought in to keep an eye on the crowds watching Scotland's three autumn test matches on the big screen at Festival Square.

But at one stage during the New Zealand match last weekend there were five stewards and only two people watching the game.
