Byrne to set stage alight for Macmillan

posted 9 May 2011, 12:30 by David Rintoul

Irish comedian Ed Byrne is to host a one-night comedy gala in the Capital in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Big C will give fans the opportunity to see the TV favourite introducing ten of the biggest names in stand-up. The full line-up will be announced in July.

The Big Comedy Gala aims to raise £20,000 in one night for Macmillan Cancer Support in its centenary year.

Byrne said: "I'm delighted to have the opportunity to support and take part in this unique, one-off event while I'm at the Edinburgh Fringe. Cancer affects us all and the work undertaken by Macmillan is essential to many people living in the UK. Personally, I can't think of a better, more entertaining way to raise money - nor a better cause."

The Irish performer will top the bill to be staged on Monday, August 15 at the EICC as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
