A team of pupils from Boroughmuir High School has won the Edinburgh finals of a popular consumer quiz for young people.

The team has now won a place in the Scottish finals of the Young Consumers of the Year awards after beating stiff competition from Portobello High School, Mary Erskine's School, Tynecastle High School and St Augustine's RC High School.

They will battle against fellow young consumers from across the country for the chance to represent Scotland at the UK final.

Presenting the prizes to the pupils, Councillor Gordon Mackenzie said: "Boroughmuir were worthy winners of the Edinburgh round of the Young Consumers competition and I wish them the very best of luck at the Scottish finals next March.

"Edinburgh schools have earned a very proud record in this UK-wide contest, winning three out of the previous four years."
