Central Taxis is to become the first black taxi firm in Scotland to go carbon neutral for pre-booked journeys.

The company is working with The CarbonNeutral Company, which will offset its C02 emissions for booked journeys through a project in China, which uses methane from coal mines to supply gas to homes and industry.

Chairman Bill Purnell launched the new service with Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill in Festival Square, unveiling a new "green" taxi.
