Violin virtuoso Nicola Benedetti will make her Edinburgh International Festival debut in front of a sell-out crowd at the Usher Hall later this week.

The former BBC Young Musician of the Year will perform the Szymanowski Violin Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra and the world-leading conductor Valery Gergiev.

Before that, the BBC documentary Song of the Night, directed by its head of classical music Peter Maniura, will be broadcast on the big screen at Festival Square.

The screening begins at 6.30pm on Thursday, with the concert 90 minutes later.
