Gorgie City Farm has been awarded almost £9000 for a new bee and butterfly conservation zone.

The money, offered by Big Lottery Fund, will go towards preparing a new space and planting nectar-rich flowers designed to attract and feed the bees and butterflies.

Nesting boxes are to be constructed for the insects to live in and hibernate.

Tracy Cudworth, garden project worker, said: "This grant gives us the opportunity to transform a dark and unused area of the farm into a haven for bees and butterflies."
