Archers' plan hits the target

posted 15 May 2009, 05:00 by David Rintoul

Revised plans to redevelop a city centre plot owned by the Royal Society of Archers has been given the go-ahead by the council's planning committee.

The original proposals by the Royal Society of Archers were part of a scheme to redevelop its site at Boroughloch, but after the plans attracted more than 90 objections, they were changed.

The new approved scheme will preserve both the historic 19th century cottage, known as the Lodge, and a stone wall bordering the Meadows which was originally due to be incorporated into the modern block, with new windows inserted into it.

The modern buildings will also be made lower, at two and three storeys.
