Trade Waste Bins on the Public Road
Trade Waste bins should not be placed on the public footway or carriageway without the consent of the Council. It is the responsibility of owners of premises to ensure that they have provision for off-road storage of trade waste as consent will not normally be given. It will only be acceptable to put bins out when they are due for collection/emptying. If a business has insufficient space for storage within their premises, they should seek an alternative, smaller bin from their supplier. In some premises, hygiene regulations prohibit the use of certain types of bin from being stored internally. In these cases, the Food Hygiene service will be happy to advise on alternative forms of storage which will be acceptable. Further information on this may be obtained from Geoff Sim on 0131 529 3738.
