1736:
The "Porteous Riot" took place in Edinburgh. The Tolbooth prison was broken into, several prisoners freed, and Captain John Porteous was dragged out and hanged. Porteous had been granted a Royal reprieve from a death sentence imposed when he ordered his men to fire on a rowdy mob.

On a dull evening which became somewhat wet, only 8 members played for the Bob Burnett Memorial Trophy.
Congratulations to Scott Allison who won with a net 99 on his first competition appearance of the year!
The scratch prize was won by Paul Middleton with a 97 (Paul now playing off +11!). |
