Fire Home Safety Check

Chip Pans
  1. Never fill more than a third full
  2. Never cook with oil or fat if you have been drinking alcohol
  3. Never throw water onto the fire
Electrical Safety
  1. Have electric blankets serviced when out of guarantee
    (normally 3 years)
  2. Do not have more than 13 amp to each outlet
  3. Turn off all appliances not needed especially at night
    (televisions, washing machines)
Smoking Safety
  1. Keep out of reach of children and pets
  2. Always put on a heat resistant surface
Fires/heaters
  1. Never put a heater near clothes or furniture
  2. If you have an electric fire, don’t run the cable under carpets or rugs. It can cause fire by fraying the cable
Children & Fire
  1. Teach your children the Fire Brigade “motto” if there is a fire:
    “GET OUT- GET US OUT- STAY OUT”
