1999:
the Scottish Parliament reconvened with Dr Winifred M Ewing MSP as acting Presiding Officer. Her first words to the Parliament were - "The Scottish Parliament which adjourned on the 25th of March in the year 1707 is hereby reconvened."

Chip Pans
- Never fill more than a third full
- Never cook with oil or fat if you have been drinking alcohol
- Never throw water onto the fire

- Have electric blankets serviced when out of guarantee
(normally 3 years)
- Do not have more than 13 amp to each outlet
- Turn off all appliances not needed especially at night

- Keep out of reach of children and pets
- Always put on a heat resistant surface
Fires/heaters
- Never put a heater near clothes or furniture
- If you have an electric fire, don’t run the cable under carpets or rugs. It can cause fire by fraying the cable
Children & Fire
- Teach your children the Fire Brigade “motto” if there is a fire:
“GET OUT- GET US OUT- STAY OUT” Detectors
- Always test weekly
Escape Plan/Night Time Routine
- Get out raise the alarm
- Do not go back in until a Fire Officer says it is safe to do so
