The Meadows Croquet Club is based at the old bowling greens at the west end of the Meadows in Edinburgh, on Leven Terrace. With the help of lottery funding from sportscotland, we have upgraded the pavilion and created three first class croquet lawns. The club is also the home of the National Croquet Centre and as such hosts major tournaments and internationals. Meadows Croquet Club welcomes players of all standards from complete beginners upwards. All you need to play croquet is a pair of flat soled shoes (to avoid damaging the lawns). The club has the rest of the equipment you need, including mallets. There are regular club sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (from 6.00pm onwards) and on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday afternoons (from 2.00pm). There are also special beginners' courses at the start of every season. There is no need to join the club to begin with - all you need do is pay the visitors' fee of £5.00 per session. If you subsequently join the club then your visitors' fees are credited towards your annual subscription, which is £75 (as of 2008), with reductions for students and country members and also for off-peak membership. |
