Help Us Solve The Riddle? The Life and times of Riddle's Court - Programme AddedPosted by : David on May 31, 2007 - 02:43 PM Notable 16th century buildings is held in great affection...
An exciting new adult education project is underway to research, record and bring to life the story of Riddle’s Court – one of Edinburgh’s most notable 16th century buildings.
Riddle's Court is a place held in great affection by Old Town residents, historians, Fringe performers, and the world of adult education. As part of The Life and Times of Riddle’s Court project, which is being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Workers’ Educational Association and the City of Edinburgh Council are holding a special Riddle’s Court Doors Open Day on Saturday 16th June 2007 to reunite people from all walks of life who have a connection (however big or small) with this important Royal Mile Landmark. Visitors will be able to take part in a wide range of activities to share their stories and affection for Riddles Court. Alicia Bruce, WEA Project Co-ordinator said: “Those wishing to contribute can have their portrait taken by our in-house photographers, inspire our creative writers or share their stories and experiences in ‘the diary room’ telling tales to Big Brother Riddle. There’ll be walking tours, performances and a chance to learn more about the building and the personalities who lived, worked, learned or performed here including Bailie John MacMorran, David Hume, Patrick Geddes, Jack Kane and the cast of Monty Python”. A team of 30 volunteers and tutors is currently working with the WEA to create a publication interpreting 400 years in the life of Riddle’s Court. In this way we can ensure that this unique building and hub for learning remains available to a wide audience for generations to come.
