COUNCIL chiefs have been left red-faced after a sign warning drivers of a new traffic-calmed zone was put up in the wrong place.

Two ten-foot tall signs, telling drivers they were entering a newly-installed traffic-calmed area, were put up at the entrance to Lauriston Gardens by Londsale Terrace, Tollcross. But because most of Londsale Terrace is one-way, few drivers would ever have seen the signs.

And they would all have had to drive through the "traffic calmed" Lauriston Gardens to reach Londsale Terrace.

The signposts were in place for about two weeks before being removed last week.
