    Three men attacked in the capital

Police are appealing for witnesses after three men were attacked in Edinburgh in the early hours of yesterday morning (February 18th).

The victims were walking near Opium and Base nightclubs in the Cowgate, at about 1.20am, when a row erupted with another two men and two women.

The three men were all assaulted; a 24-year-old and a 23-year-old received treatment at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The other man, aged 28, did not need medical treatment.

The two women suspects are described as being 19-years-old with blonde hair. One had very dark roots and was wearing a pink mini-skirt and pink vest. The other was in a short white dress.

One of the male suspects was 5ft 6ins tall, of average build, with dark hair, and was in a multi-coloured striped jumper and jeans. The other was between 27 to 30-years-old, around 6ft 1ins tall with short dark hair, and was wearing a long-sleeved white t-shirt and jeans.

A police spokeswoman said: "This was a violent assault on the group of young men, leaving two of them needing hospital treatment. It's vital the group responsible are caught, and we would urge any witnesses to come forward as soon as possible."
