A DOCTORS' surgery in the shadow of Edinburgh's former Royal Infirmary is set to be converted into a new office block.

The Lister Housing Co-operative has submitted plans for the Lauriston Place surgery, used by the Lauriston Medical Practice.

The move has been prompted after the surgery, which has operated from the building for 25 years, announced it would be relocating in Edinburgh this spring.

The housing co-operative said it hoped to attract financial and professional services firms to rent the building. The plans are expected to be discussed by councillors within the coming months.
