The four-man delegation toured Tollcross Primary yesterday to learn more about the combined teaching of competing languages.
Afghanistan has two main languages, Pashto, the official language, and Dari, which is used for most everyday transactions.
Headteacher Kenneth Neal said: “We were happy to be able to welcome the Afghanistan education delegation to Scotland and to show them how we combine English and Gaelic teaching for our pupils.”
The visit was part of a tour of UK education institutions organised by the British Council. The group has also visited the Scottish Education Inspectorate and the Scottish Government with the aim of implementing school inspection reforms in Afghanistan.
Roy Cross, director of the British Council Scotland, said: “We hope that the mission develops lasting links between Scotland and Afghanistan.”
