A RANGE of community groups and projects across the south of the city have applied for grants to help fund their work this year.

Organisations such as the Friends of Braidburn Valley Park and the 3Ms youth project have applied to the council for funding for their projects.

The Friends of Braidburn Valley Park group has applied for £1250 to create a new website that will help highlight their conservation work and efforts in achieving a Green Flag award for the park.

Officials from the council's community grants fund have recommended that the money be granted as long as the group agrees to pay for the upkeep of the site themselves.

Marchmont and Sciennes community council, which is currently undertaking a project to improve and enhance local streets, has applied for £1985 for new planters, trees and a noticeboard at Sciennes Primary School.

The 3Ms youth project has applied for £5000 which would be used to fund activities for children during the summer holidays.

Cameron House community education centre has also applied for £5000 to fund a summer programme for youngsters.

Council officials are expected to discuss the applications over the coming weeks.
