
Edinburgh Bicycle Triathalon - Royal Commonwealth Pool & Holyrood Park
The New Year's Day, Edinburgh Bicycle Triathlon is a race for everyone; a fun race for those who have never done a triathlon before (about a third of participants are first-timers) and a competitive test of winter fitness for experienced athletes in one of the most beautiful urban settings.
All competitors receive a race goody bag and every finisher is in with a chance to win the lucky dip prize of £500 once you complete the course: swim 400 metres, cycle 11 miles and run 3 ½ miles.
As in previous years the race was massively over-subscribed and entries are now closed! However, supporters and spectators are welcome and can watch free of charge.
The race kicks off at 12:30pm.
Iron Kids Duathlon
But it's not just about adults! Also running with be the Iron Kids Duathlon, a run-bike-run duathlon in Holyrood Park. It's a chance for the Triathletes of the future to show their potential! This race is meant to be fun but it is still a good challenge to start the year with. This race is open to all children between that ages of 8 and 15 on the day of the race. It comprises a 600m run, 2 mile bike, 600m run. The roads along the course are closed and the race is well marshalled. All particpants get a goodie bag.

Entries can be taken on the morning but it really helps if you enter online here [3] so we know how many athletes to expect!
The Iron Kids race kicks off at 11:30pm. Please note that participating children must wear a cycle helmet.
PLEASE NOTE THAT BECAUSE OF THE RACE, ONLY CLAMBERS AND GYM FACILITIES WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE ROYAL COMMONWEALTH POOL - OPEN 11AM TIL 4PM.
