[3] Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and robbed in Edinburgh at the weekend.
The 27-year-old was walking along Lothian Road about 00.15am on Saturday (December 1st) when he was assaulted by two men who head butted him, and demanded cash.
He handed over a small amount of money, but the men began to punch him in the face and body. One of the suspects was carrying a long metal object, which could have been a knife.
One of the men is described as being between 25 and 29-years-old, 5ft 8ins tall and was wearing a light coloured top and blue jeans. The other was of a similar age, 5ft 5ins tall, and was wearing a black top and blue jeans.
A police spokeswoman said: "While the victim was not seriously injured, he has been left shaken by this unprovoked attack. I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward."
Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
