A CONVERSATION with award-winning author Philip Pullman is to be beamed live via satellite to an Edinburgh cinema.

The Cameo cinema will broadcast the discussion on December 9th, in which the author will discuss the themes of the His Dark Materials novels.

The event has been set up to tie in with the big-screen release of The Golden Compass - the first of Pullman's books to be adapted for cinema, which has caused religious controversy, with Catholics saying it promotes atheism.
