    Appeal to trace Lithuanian witness

Police are trying to trace a Lithuanian woman who may have witnessed a knifepoint robbery in Edinburgh.

The incident happened when a 20-year-old man was robbed of cash and jewellery as he walked in White Park near to the junction with Gorgie Road at about 8pm on Tuesday (August 14th).

He was approached by two men, one of whom produced a knife, and they stole a small amount of cash and a gold necklace (value unknown).

Both suspects are described as 16 to 17 years and 5ft 8ins tall. One of them had short brown hair and was wearing a white t-shirt, black hooded top with a white Nike motif on the back and had a Scottish accent.

The second man was of mixed race, with short hair and dark clothing.

A police spokesman said: 'The victim has told us a woman, possibly Lithuanian, came to his aid saying she witnessed the incident however she left before police were able to get her details.

'We would urge her, and anyone else who may have seen the incident to get in touch.'
