Police box to get new life selling 'coppercino'Posted by : David on Aug 13, 2007 - 02:02 PM Box on fringe of Links set to be transformed...
A FORMER police call box on the fringes of Bruntsfield Links is set to be transformed into a new coffee store. Planning officials have already given their backing to the scheme, which would see a police box and toilet facility on Bruntsfield Place turned into a coffee and snack kiosk. Fears had been raised by residents that queues on the narrow pavement by the police box could be dangerous to pedestrians as they could be forced on to the busy main road. However, the city's head of planning Alan Henderson said the kiosk would provide a good local service and improve the appearance of the box. Councillors are expected to grant the idea planning permission at a meeting on Wednesday. Note: Monday, 13th August, 2007 Source: Edinburgh Evening News |
