Police appeal after man takes pictures of young child
Police are appealing for information to identify a man who took pictures of a young child near the Union Canal in Edinburgh on Tuesday (July 24th).
At around 2pm, a man approached a young mother and her one-year-old daughter as they were feeding ducks on the canal at Harrison Park, and started to take photographs of the child. He then made off after he was challenged by the mother. The man is described as white, 35 to 40 years, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins, with a heavy build and short dark hair. He has a rounded face, and may have a moustache. He was wearing a white T-shirt and combat-style trousers, and was carrying a camera with a large lens. A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: 'We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, and may have seen this man taking photographs, to come forward with information. 'Similarly, if anyone recognises the description of the suspect then they should contact police immediately.' Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
