Another report of cat shot by airgun

Lothian and Borders Police press release [3]

The SSPCA has highlighted another incident where a cat was shot with an airgun in Edinburgh.

This follows our earlier appeal for information regarding 'Dougal', the cat who was shot near his home in Broomside Terrace between Sunday night (July 8th) and Monday afternoon (July 9th)

In the latest incident to be reported, a cat by the name of 'Bhindy' was shot in the back in the Craigievar Square area of the city.

Although the shooting was reported to police yesterday, it's believed to have happened around two weeks ago.

The owner reported the matter after taking advice from his vet, who removed a pellet from the cat's back.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "As these incidents happened two weeks apart there is nothing to suggest they are linked.

"Nevertheless, attacks of this nature are extremely concerning and we would appeal to anyone who has information which could help catch those responsible to contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimstoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111."
