Police leading the search for David Hopps (55) can confirm that the body recovered from the Water of Leith yesterday (14th June) is that of the missing Architect.

The body was found in the Water of Leith near to Rennies Isle at around 3.25pm.

Mr Hopps had been missing from his home address since Thursday 31st May 2007 after the break down of a relationship.

Officers from Lothian and Borders Police have visited David's friends to inform them.

A police Spokesman said 'Tragically we can confirm that the body recovered from the Water of Leith yesterday is that of Missing Architect David Hopps.'

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
