| Entertaining Your Budding Young Artists This October
Historic Scotland’s Regional Kids Go Free Drawing competition
Historic Scotland’s Kids Go Free month has been proving popular this year and a special drawing competition has been announced.
Budding young artists are invited by Historic Scotland to draw their own version of one of our cartoon characters featured on our trails at our properties across Scotland. Drawings will then be entered into a gallery, with special regional runner-up prizes.
Rebecca Hamilton, Marketing and Media Manager at Historic Scotland said:
”Our Kids Go Free month is such a lovely way of kids getting involved and making friends with history. Children across Scotland have been really enjoying the trails and quiz sheets. We think this fun competition will inspire your young artists and keep them entertained throughout October. Take the kids for free to our properties and introduce them to the loveable legends, then they can get creative at home.”
At the Historic Scotland attractions kids can hunt down their favourite historical legends, hiding throughout the properties. 70 Historic Scotland attractions are hosing 6 cartoon trails, with 36 child friendly historical illustrated characters along the way.
There will be prizes for the best 10 entries into this year’s competition. The prize will include a special drawing kit to inspire young artists.
Historic Scotland is also providing an information service by SMS text for the event. By texting TRAIL to 84118 you will receive information to your nearest attraction to visit with child’s admission being absolutely free.
The Historic Scotland Kids Go Free campaign runs from 1st – 31st October 2008. From castles to abbeys to cathedrals to prehistoric settlements to palaces to the mightiest artillery fortification in Europe, there’s something to delight the imagination of children and adult alike.
