Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival
Unheralded and largely unknown, Scott is a composer with a cult following (John Zorn to DJ Spooky).
He’s the man who made the cartoons swing. But by accident rather than design.
From Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry to The Simpsons, Scott’s music has been a defining sound. Stuart Brown’s Sextet brings Scott's music of the 1930's back to life on the composer’s centenary: zany, hyper-animated instrumentals that draw on jazz, pop, classical, ethnic, and fourth-dimensional elements.
The music is thrilling. Tom MacNiven (trumpet), Martin Kershaw (clarinet), Brian Molley (tenor saxophone), Tom Gibbs (piano), Roy Percy (double bass), Stu Brown (drums).
