Featuring an Elaborate Onscreen Introduction.
Ageing horror movie star Byron Orlok feels that his craft has been superseded by the violence in modern society.
His point is horrifically emphasised by a young man who goes on a random shooting spree from the top of a water tower and behind a drive-in movie screen.
The directorial debut of Peter Bogdanovich (THE LAST PICTURE SHOW, PAPER MOON) and one of the last appearances of Boris Karloff, what started off as a quickie to use up the two remaining days Karloff was contracted to Roger Corman turned into a stunning piece of filmmaking.
Much of the power rests in the juxtaposition of the ageing horror star and the modern horror of a mass shooting (based on the real shooting spree by Charles Whitman in 1966).
This rarer than rare screening is not to be missed so book now.
