1782: Charles McLaren was born. MacLaren, a customs official, founded 'The Scotsman' newspaper with colleague William Ritchie, a Fife-born solicitor. The first copy was published on 25th January, 1817. It was a weekly paper that sold about 800 - 900 copies and cost 10d.

Andrew has loved folk tunes for as long as he can remember and played his first solo gig at 17.

Andrew Gordon

Influenced mainly by the late Roy Williamson, and Ronnie Brown of The Corries, Andrew plays a variety of traditional battle songs, ballads and funnies.

He writes originals in a few musical styles on top of playing traditional songs.
