One day along comes Chris Flanders (Richard Burton), a poet who has the spiritual energy Sissy hungers for, but also a reputation for turning up just before rich ladies die – his nickname among the literary elite is the Angel of Death. A strange and not entirely successful curiosity piece, widely panned by critics on its release but named by Williams as being his favourite of all of the film adaptations of his work. And look out for Noel Coward's marvellously bitchy cameo as the Witch of Capri!
