Get involved in the 2008 BAA Edinburgh Airport Youth Games
Feeling fit, flying high with the BAA Youth Games...
The BAA Edinburgh Airport Youth Games, the pinnacle of the school sports calendar, is set to touch down for a ninth year on Thursday 15th May.
The biggest youth sports event in the city attracts around 1,500 young participants each year and offers the choice of 11 sports competitions.
The aim of the event, which will this year carry an Olympic theme, is to inspire the younger generation to lead an active and healthy lifestyle through sport.
The BAA Youth Games offers young people, who would not normally have the opportunity to take part in a large sports competition, the opportunity to experience the buzz of taking part in a large sports extravaganza and in doing so, provide a springboard to their continued participation and enjoyment of sport.
Applications to the event are being welcomed from every school in Edinburgh and if you would like to see your school involved please contact your active schools coordinator.
Schools can download additional event applications here.
In welcoming so many participants to such a big event, we need an enthusiastic group of volunteers to assist in ensuring the event goes smoothly.
It’s a great day and a great opportunity to get experience of working in sport and with young people.
