Today in History

1788: The first steamboat experiment was held on Dalswinton Loch. Robert Burns was farming at Ellisland, just outside Dumfries, when he was invited by his landlord, Patrick Miller, to go out in a small experimental steamboat. Farmers' Market
09:00 Tuesday, March 11 2008

A market in which farmers, growers and producers from Scotland sell their produce direct to the public. All foods & products sold should have been grown, reared, caught, brewed, pickled, baked, smoked, or made/prepared by the producer."

Local growers and producers take personal pride in the food they bring to their Farmers' Market and want you to enjoy it. The emphasis is on freshness, quality and value for money, Buying locally means you can ask how the food is produced and grown and at the same time customer feedback is appreciated by the producer.

Shopping Bags for Life
The Scottish Association of Farmers' Markets has produced a superb bag for life which will be available from producers and Farmers' Markets throughout Scotland, now available from most producers, and at all SAFM Markets.
