Today in History

1835: James Hogg, the poet known as the Ettrick shepherd, died in Ettrick. Hogg is primarily known today not only as the author of a series of pastoral poems, but also as the writer of the novel, 'Confessions of a Justified Sinner', widely regarded as the first piece of modern Scottish fiction.

The Usher Hall are hosting their lunchtime Get Organised! concerts down the road at St Cuthbert's (off Lothian Road - towards Princes St).

Same time 1.10pm - 1.50pm, same price £3.
Tickets available from 12:30pm on the door.

Four concerts with JOHN KITCHEN.

Autumn/Winter series begins on Tuesday, 9th September with A Night at the Opera. Followed by a Battle of Britain Special on 16th September, and Fantasies and Toccatas on 23rd September.

The Choir and Organ Christmas Special is on Wednesday 10th December this year - so come and get all festive!
