Scottish Legends Come Together
12:00 Saturday, May 10 2008

Historic Scotland announce a brand-new event to take place at one of Scotland’s most popular visitor attractions, Stirling Castle.

Stirling Castle is at the head of Stirling’s historic old town off the M9

Taking place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th May Legends brings together some of Scotland’s most famous celebrities from history, spanning different centuries and various iconic moments in time.

Visitors will have the chance to hear the stories of Robert the Bruce, see William Wallace in action and even have their picture taken with Mary Queen of Scots.

There will be a special area where children will be able to try out replica outfits from the past for free.

A special parade will bring each day to a close and the whole cast will pose for photos.

Gillian MacDonald, Manager at Stirling Castle, said;

“Legends promises to be a great day out for the whole family. The event covers 2,000 years of history in one day, with historic VIPs including Bonnie Prince Charlie, the Marquis of Montrose and even Robert Burns. Bringing together so many icons from history means there is something for everyone, no matter what their favourite time in history may be. This will truly be a legendary experience.”

Stirling Castle itself is legendary: situated high on a volcanic outcrop the castle’s long turbulent history is associated with great figures from Scotland’s past such as William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and Mary Queen of Scots.

It has seen many royal dramas and witnessed the lives and deaths of almost every Scottish monarch up to the Union of the Crowns in 1603.

Legends will take place at Stirling Castle on 10th and 11th May from 12noon to 16.00 each day.

This event is included in the admission price to the castle.
